About us

We're Marta and Jon. We first came to Zermatt in 2021 for one night and stayed four. The plan had been a neat stop between trains. The village, the quiet streets, and a morning when the peak came out of the cloud like a thought you had been trying to remember — that was the end of neat plans. We cancelled the next connection and ate too much rösti and walked until our calves argued with us.

Since then we return every autumn, sometimes with an extra week stolen from winter. We are not guides and we are not locals. We keep a notebook of which benches catch the last sun, which baker is kind before eight, and which viewpoints were worth the cold hands. This site is that notebook, typed up so we can find it again ourselves.

If a page here helps you pack a warmer layer or take the earlier train, that is enough. We will not try to sell you a ticket. We will tell you when we got the weather wrong. That, for us, is what a journal is for.
